Antinori Guado Al Tasso Il Bruciato 2023
The Guado al Tasso estate is located in the small but prestigious Bolgheri DOC, on the coast of upper Maremma, about 60 miles southwest from Florence. The 2,500 acre estate stretches up from the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the hills, in the heart of Bolgheri amphitheater. This appellation has a relatively recent history, DOC Bolgheri was approved in 1995 and since then it has become an internationally recognized reference point for Italian and international winemaking arena.

"The 2023 Il Bruciato boasts a dark purple hue and exudes baked aromas of plum, pie spice, balsamic, and rich earth. Full-bodied, the palate is generous and rounded, with supple ripe tannins providing a fleshy sensation through the finish. I would prefer to enjoy this while it retains some freshness over the near term. This vintage is a blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 19% Merlot, and the remainder Syrah and Petit Verdot. 860,000 bottles produced."
Il Bruciato is the modern face of Bolgheri, crafted at the legendary Guado al Tasso estate by the Antinori family. This is a wine that captures the spirit of Tuscany's prestigious coastal region, home to iconic names like Sassicaia and Ornellaia, while offering immediate, undeniable appeal.
The name "Il Bruciato" ("the burned") recalls a historic event, but today the wine is defined by its vibrant and generous character. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, it is aged in oak to develop complexity and soften its tannins. The 2023 vintage is rich and concentrated, delivering layers of ripe blackberry, cassis, and plum, with hints of spice and roasted coffee.
While it shares the same vineyard pedigree and winemaking philosophy as the estate's flagship "Guado al Tasso," Il Bruciato is crafted to be expressive and approachable upon release. It's a full-bodied, supple wine that perfectly balances power with polish.
