E.H. Taylor BTAC Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon - Buffalo Trace Antique Collection 2025
Buffalo Trace Distillery introduces a major update to its highly sought-after Antique Collection: E.H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, debuting Fall 2025. This marks the first new, permanent addition to the BTAC lineup since Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Straight Rye joined in 2006. Bottled at 100 proof in accordance with Bottled-in-Bond Act standards, this release honors Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr., the man behind the act itself and one of bourbon’s most influential figures.
This is not the standard E.H. Taylor expression. This BTAC release elevates the line to a new level with a significant age statement and a complex batching process.

A Profile in Age and Complexity
While the standard E.H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond is non-age-stated), this 15-year-old Antique Collection release represents a massive leap in maturity.
To achieve a balanced 100-proof bourbon after 15 years, this is a masterwork of blending. The bourbon was drawn from seven different warehouses (K, L, P, N, U, I, and C) and six different floors (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7).6 This meticulous selection marries high-proof, oak-driven barrels from the upper floors with softer, lower-proof barrels from the bottom floors.
The 62% evaporation loss means that for every 10 barrels filled in 2010, fewer than four remained, concentrating over 15 years of flavor into the final, precious liquid.
Official Tasting Notes
- Nose: Warm vanilla, seasoned oak, charred undertones, and a drizzle of maple sweetness.
- Palate: Balanced sweetness and baking spices mingle with gentle wood notes.
- Finish: A lingering finish that carries oak and vanilla into soft caramel with a hint of cherry.
E.H. Taylor’s legacy runs deep in Kentucky bourbon history. After acquiring what’s now Buffalo Trace in 1869, Taylor modernized the distillery, introduced steam-heated warehouses, and helped shape federal whiskey laws. This release marks the first time his namesake Bottled-in-Bond expression enters the BTAC lineup, solidifying his place alongside George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, and others.
Why Collectors Are Watching
This is a milestone release. By adding a 15-year age statement to the legendary Bottled-in-Bond designation, Buffalo Trace has created an instant "unicorn." With E.H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond finally entering the Antique Collection, it becomes a must-have for anyone serious about American whiskey.
