Domaine Ostertag Fronholz A l'Orient d'Eden 2020

Winemaker (and sculptor) Andre Ostertag honed his skills in Burgundy before returning to his family’s domaine and instituted improved vineyard and cellar practices such as lowering yields and converting his 14 hectares of vines to biodynamic viticulture. This fruit comes from the Fronholz vineyard just outside of the town of Epfig, where white sand topsoils cover marls of quartz and clay, soils notable for the power they can imbue into a wine. Aging occurs in stainless steel tanks where the wine rests on its lees for 8 months before bottling. This Gewurztraminer sits at a modest 12.5% ABV, but 48 g/L of residual sugar give it the bones to age for decades. Can absolutely fit the bill as a dessert wine with an apple strudel as is traditional in Alsace but will also be happy to sit in a cool, dark place as it evolves into the realm of ethereal wines.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
