Dating from the 12th century, Château La Nerthe has long been a part of the landscape of Châteauneuf-du-Pape; wine grapes have been grown here since the 1500s, making it one of the oldest estates in the region. In the late 1860s, however, the vineyards were devastates by phylloxera and over the following decades the estate went into decline. Turnaround commenced in 1986, with acquisition of the property by the Richard family, in a partnership with David & Foillard negociants, enabling expansion of the vineyards to 222 acres under vine, making it one of the largest estates in the southern Rhone. Subsequently the Richard family also acquired the Prieure de Montezargues, the substantial remains of a monastery that dates from the 12th century, along with 84 acres of vines. This is classic Tavel, a full-bodied rose that is a blend of eight different grape varieties; it is juicy and plush, full of strawberries and sour cherries but with crisp acidity and an elegant herbal finish.

A superb dry rosé from the appelation of Tavel. A blend of Grenache (55%), Cinsault (30%) and Clairette (15%). Vibrant red berry and summer fruit flavours make this a freshing but full-flavoured treat with more body and depth than you would normally expect from a rosé.
