One of the most iconic producers in Txakolina. From the importer: "Ameztoi is one of the top producers of Getariako Txakolina. They own 20 hectares of vines in the best location. From the vineyards one can see the town of St. Sebastian and understand the influence of the Atlantic Ocean on local viticulture. Made from the indigenous grape varieties of Hondarribi Zuri and its red companion Hondarribi Beltza. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and bottled with residual carbonic acid that gives the wine its natural spritz.

The iconic Ameztoi Rubentis Rose is a blend of hondarrabi zuri and hondarrabi beltza varieties, which are co-fermented for three weeks. When most local wineries gave up on the indigenous red hondarrabi beltza vines, the Ameztoi family retained their old vines, which gives their rose exceptional vibrancy and complexity. Rubentis, the region’s first pink wine, was inspired by the historic claret style wines which were once produced in the area long before the current global craze made rosé famous. The backbone of the blend comes from a hondarrabi beltza vineyard planted in 1840, preserved by the Ameztoi family for generations.

Racy acidity and minerality define Txakoli, the slightly fizzy wines from Spanish Basque country. We love Ameztoi’s rose, a blend of white (Hondarrabi Zuri) and red (Hondarrabi Beltza) grapes. Crisp and dry with tangy cherry and orange zest notes, this versatile wine complements a wide range of foods, from fish and shellfish to pork, game, sausage and spicy fare.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
