Saxum
View Full Description [+ Read More]
Saxum is a winery based in Paso Robles, California, on the westside Willow Creek District, where founder Justin Smith produces Rhône-variety red blends from calcareous soils and volcanic rock. The winery farms several estate sites, with James Berry Vineyard serving as the home ranch and the source of some of Saxum's most recognized single-vineyard bottlings across vintages including the James Berry Vineyard 2018 and 2019. G2 Vineyard, represented here in 2019 and 2020, draws from a separate block planted to similar Rhône varieties. Broken Stones, bottled across 2017, 2021, and 2022, functions as the winery's most widely produced red blend, while The Hexe 2016 represents a more site-specific, limited expression from a distinct block within the James Berry estate.
