Hampden Habitation Velier 2010 LROK 6 Year Old Rum 67% 70cl Bottle

LROK is a term which designates an ester rate, that is to say of aromatic molecules (therefore everything that is not water or alcohol), located between 200 gr / laa and 400 gr / laa. For a Jamaican rum from Hampden, it is therefore rather a "light" rum (precisely 375 gr / laa for this cuvée) even if this term once again must be put into perspective (agricultural rums from the French West Indies are around a rate. of 300 gr / laa).

This rum bottled by the famous Italian brand Velier was distilled in 2010 at Hampden, the Jamaican distillery two and a half centuries old, before aging in bourbon barrels (angels share = 40% evaporation). The rum was finally bottled in 2016, at 67 °, at natural level.

More than just a bottler of rum, Luca Gargano is considered a visionary in the cane spirits industry, even developing his own classification for different styles of rum in 2015. Many distilleries have since adopted this. Among the classifications is "pure single rum," which denotes a spirit produced on pot stills at a single distillery. This Habitation Velier range is a celebration of these rums "which best expresses the raw material and the know-how of the distiller."

LROK, as this bottle is labelled, is a Hampden distillery cask mark identifying a rum with 350-450 esters. Distilled in 2010 on the double retort pot still, this was fully matured for 6 years at the Jamaican distillery.

The renowned Hampden Distillery is located in the Trelawny Parish in the north west of Jamaica, an area historically representing the grand cru of Jamaican rum, characterized by an incredible biodiversity.

Hampden Estate has been in continuous operation since its founding in 1753, making it one of the oldest estates in the Caribbean.

It has maintained the same production methods and techniques for the last two centuries, such as the use of its own spring water, prolonged fermentation time with wild yeasts, tropical ageing, no added colorants and sugar, and distillation exclusively in pot stills.

With these rums, Hampden Estate have created their very first aged distillery releases in 265 years, which both celebrate the uniqueness of Jamaican rum production and present Hampden to the world stage. A global premiere.
