Just northeast of Napa town lies the high-altitude Atlas Peak AVA - home to some prized wines and wineries within the wider Napa area.

Atlas Peak in Napa County, California, is the name of one of the county's highest points and the AVA which surrounds it. Lying just northeast of Napa town, the peak itself reaches 2663ft (811m), falling only slightly short of Mount Vaca to the southeast and Sugarloaf Mountain at the northern edge of the Howell Mountain AVA. It lies on the western side of the Vaca Mountains, the range which separates the Napa and inland Sacramento valleys.
