The Clos de la Bergerie vineyard is within the famous Roches aux Moines appellation of the Loire Valley. This white is somewhat reminiscent of the great Coulée de Serrants but is made in a more moderate style yet still boasting a more oxidative type of winemaking.
Famille Joly is a wine producer based in the Savennières appellation of the Loire Valley. It is known for its ageworthy wines made from Chenin Blanc , particularly those from the monopoly Coulée de Serrant vineyard. For years (and even to this day) the estate was associated with its outspoken biodynamic proponent, Nicolas Joly.
The domain achieved its reputation under Joly. Originally working in finance in the United States and the United Kingdom, he returned to Savennières in 1977 to assume control of the vineyards of his parents.
