Originally barreled as a private reserve for a wedding hosted on the legendary Destilería La Fortaleza estate, the liquid was meant for only a brief finish in a European oak ex-Oloroso sherry cask. However, when events in 2020 forced the celebration to be postponed, the tequila remained in the wood for an unintended 18 months. The result is a masterful accidental masterpiece: a high-proof assemblage combining 75% traditional, estate-aged Reposado with 25% of this profoundly dark, long-rested wedding juice, bottled entirely additive-free at a distinct 41.6% ABV (83.2 Proof).Following the wedding, the family commercialized the remaining leftover stash under the traditional Mexican domestic "Los Abuelos" label, dedicating the limited release to local street dog rescues.

With fewer than 1,000 bottles yielded worldwide, Amor y Perros delivers an incredible sensory profile that balances the earthy, sweet cooked agave characteristic of NOM 1493 with heavy layers of oxidized sherry, dried fig, butterscotch, and warming baking spices. This is not just a hard-to-find tequila; it is a pourable piece of distillery history, merging philanthropic heart, wedding heritage, and unparalleled small-batch craftsmanship into one of the most sought-after unicorn bottles on the market today.

https://flaskfinewines.com/products/fortaleza-los-abuelos-edicion-amor-y-perros-reposado-tequila-lot-114-r
