Les Maugeruets roughly riffs on the French wording for “poor soils,” which is exactly what this complex Cab Franc comes from. And that sandy, silty earth is one of the best sites in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. It’s a super traditional take on regional Cab Franc — deep, rich, macerated — from old vines with reduced yields. Look for notes of strawberry, bell pepper, and cedar.
