The 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is initially understated on the nose, but given a little encouragement it offers an engaging cool, rocky nose that is almost Zen-like compared to the other premier crus. The palate is wonderfully balanced with a fine thread of acidity. There is a touch of dried honey and almond furnishing the entry that segues into a harmonious, almost Meursault-like finish that is very convincing, flecks of shaved ginger on the aftertaste. This can be broached early but will also repay with cellaring.
