Quintarelli is among the five most revered estates in Italian wine, and its iconic founder Giuseppe Quintarelli was a living legend during his time at the helm. Antonio Galloni writes in Vinous, "Today, Quintarelli's grandson, Francesco, seems to have the estate under firm control... As for the wines, well, they have no peers. Once readers have acquired a taste for these heady wines, there is no turning back. It's as simple as that." The Rosso del Bepi is declassified Amarone. The Quintarelli estate only produces its Amarone in truly exceptional years, and otherwise, the wine is labeled as Rosso del Bepi. In less-than-ideal vintages, neither wine is produced. So, this wine should not be viewed merely as a sub-par Amarone. The selection involved in its production is every bit as discerning as with the iconic Amarone.
