Cadence Coda Red Mountain 2015

36% merlot, 28% cabernet sauvignon, 27% cabernet franc, 9% petit verdot. Coda 2016 leads with minerals, spice and plums on the nose - there is a lot of complexity for such a young wine. The palate displays a formidable array of deep red fruit, baking spices, powerful minerality held together with a pomegranate pop of acidity. Tannins are present, long, fine, and weave their way into a long, energetic finish. This is another excellent vintage for our second wine.

Critical Acclaim

92 Wine  Enthusiast

This blend of Cabernet Franc (46%), Merlot (28%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%) and Petit Verdot (9%) starts out brooding, with black cherry, herb, black currant, anise, and spice notes. The palate is rich and structured, loaded with dark fruit flavors and firm tannins. Give it some time to open up.

91 James Suckling

Big violet-like floral fragrance here. Roses, brambly leaves and nuances of fresh herbs too. The palate has a smoothly arrayed, medium-weight shape with bright crunchy red cherries and berries. A blend of 46% cabernet franc, 28% merlot, 17% cabernet sauvignon and 9% petit verdot.

90 Jeb Dunnuck

Cadence's entry-level cuvée is the 2015 Coda, which is 46% Cabernet Franc, 28% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Petit Verdot, aged in 45% new French oak. Always a good value, 2015 offers deep, rich aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, black cherries, graphite, dried earth, and hints of chocolate. With medium to full-bodied, richness, a mouth filling, balanced texture, and a great finish, it's a beautiful wine that can be drunk anytime over the coming 7-8 years.

90 Vinous

Good medium-deep red. Musky, slightly medicinal scents of boysenberry, black cherry, plum and spices. Juicy and fine-grained, with lovely natural acidity giving shape and lift to the flavors of cherry, plum, licorice and fresh herbs, with some redder fruit nuances emerging with air. This firm-edged wine finishes with fine-grained tannins. Fruit sources for this entry-level bend include Tapteil, Ciel du Cheval and Cara Mia.
